Under 8s Development Policy U7 and U8s Within Mini Soccer Rules
Concentrate on individual soccer skills :- ball control, with feet , head and body. Introduce the laws of the game : foul play , throw ins , free kicks , handling etc. Moving players around in different playing positions to develop all round playing ability and understanding of team rules, playing for enjoyment, WINNING IS NOT THE ISSUE. Introduce light stretching routines to develop good warm-up and cool down practices. Small sided games, 5 a side ,to give each player maximum contact with ball during play. Limit number of games against opposition clubs. To train with U7s.
Under 9s Development Policy
Build on individual soccer skills and understanding of the laws of the game. Still moving players around in different playing positions, continuing to develop all around ability and understanding of team roles, playing for enjoyment. WINNING IS NOT THE ISSUE. Increase the light stretching routines to continue development of good warm up and cool down practices. Small sided games. Limit number of games against opposition clubs
Under 10s Development Policy
Continue build on individual soccer skills but with more emphasis on each individual improving their ability, still moving players around in different playing positions continuing to develop all round playing ability and understanding of team roles, still playing for enjoyment, introduce the idea that winning is fun, no pressure to succeed.
Increase stretching routines (still light) to continue development of good warm up and cool down practices. Begin specific coaching practices :- attacking play, defensive play. Small sided games, 7 a side moving to 11 a side towards the end of the season. Increase number of games against opposition clubs towards end of season. Begin to organize into 1st and 2nd teams with players moving between the two. Start training with the older age groups getting ready for league football.
Coaches - Mini Soccer
All Coaches at this level must have Minimum of Level 1 , and be prepared to have Minimum of one coaching session with Senior Coach per year , and under go Club induction course .
All Mini Soccer Coaches should attend regular team Managers meetings , to ensure the common coach strategy is working and being upheld. Mini Soccer coaches will be encouraged to undertake Level 2 course where possible.
JUNIOR SOCCER PLAYER & COACH DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
Under 11's and 12's-Develop Policy
Continue individual soccer skills and team work coaching, concentrate on technical ability and tactics, monitor improvement of and promote individuals responsibility for improvement. Increase the stretching routines to include light stamina training, continue warm up and cool down sessions before and after games as well as training sessions. Begin to place players in positions of play (for continuity) but still move them around within the team occasionally. Organise into 1st and 2nd teams (within league rules), 1st team coach to have first pick of the age group, players not required for 1st team duty in that week to be included in the 2nd team squad. Continue the theme that winning is fun without pressure to succeed, success is expected more in 1st team than in the 2nd.
Where possible play friendly games where the 1st and 2nd teams can be mixed to make up teams, this promotes teamwork throughout the age group, training games would be a good starting point for this. All players in these age groups to train together.
U13 / U14 Development Policy.
Continue with the theme introduced at 11/12s.Increase technical coaching and introduce fitness training within sessions. Begin to expect improved results from the team setting targets to be achieved. Promote the targets to the players, increase discipline in attendance and attitude towards the club rules and policy .All players in these groups to train together.
Under 15's / Under 16's Player & Coach Development Policy
Continue the skills and technical coaching, increase pressure to continue self development by the individual. (Fitness training outside the club sessions). Insist on the right playing attitude - response to adverse decisions, provocation from the opposition, positive not negative criticism of team members, improve players knowledge of the laws of the game.
Continue target setting (targets should have higher expectations), also continue the discipline in attendance and attitude to the club rules and policies. Introduce the expectation that the players will progress to play in the clubs open age teams.
All players in these age groups to train together, with the under 16's attending u17/Open Age training sessions towards the end of the season.
Under 17's / Open Age Player and Coach Development Policy Continue the skills and technical coaching, demand good levels of fitness, understanding of the laws of the game and positive attitude to playing football. The 1st team and reserves system (one squad) to be fully enforced with high expectations of 1st tam success, Players to be prepared to play where chosen. Older players to help in the development of younger players coming into the squad and in setting examples on and off the field of play. Still promote the fun / enjoyment element of belonging to Scissett Football Club. Older players to be encouraged to assist coaching and developing younger age groups with a view to becoming coaches at a later stage. |
